About the project
Operating a successful chain of British fish & chip shops, the client sought to expand their business to the newly re-developed Karrinyup Shopping Centre.
The new store, situated within the ‘West Deck’ precinct, is part of the lively food, beverage, and outdoor entertainment offering. Given the design and build of the new tenancy occurred during the height of the COVID pandemic, careful consideration was required to bring this project to fruition. With limited material supplies and shortages of skilled labour, the design ethos and selection of materials were required to be reimagined to bring the vision and project to completion. A successful build procurement approach was developed to meet strict delivery timeframes set by the developer and main contractor, leading to timely completion and readiness for the grand opening.
Given the existing shop interiors scheme required to be updated, we established a revised interiors palette that adhered to the strict Karrinyup Design Guidelines whilst still reflecting the atmosphere of the other stores within the brand. The shop combines elements of traditional British chippy with a modern Australian aesthetic. The striking mosaic tiles, neon lighting, stainless steel features, and British-inspired graphics create an inviting and functional front of house, bringing a touch of home for the Perth-based British expat community. The real action takes place behind the scenes, where a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen designed with precision and efficiently, allows the shop to quickly handle dine-in, takeout, and delivery orders even on their busiest Friday nights.
